Ceylon Tea, Region by Region

Ceylon tea is the collective name for tea grown in Sri Lanka. The country changed its name decades ago, but in the tea world "Ceylon" has stuck.

What makes it remarkable is how different the teas are within one island. Growing regions are grouped roughly by altitude into high-grown, medium-grown and low-grown. Higher elevations tend to give lighter, more aromatic teas; lower ones give more body.

The names of the teas are simply the names of the districts. Taste them side by side and it is hard to believe they come from the same island.
