Asian Black Teas: Nepal, Vietnam, Turkey and More
Tea growing does not stop at India, China and Sri Lanka. Asia is full of teas that rarely reach the shelves in Japan.
Ilam and Kanyam grow in Nepal, in the same mountains as Darjeeling, and share a floral, high-grown character. Thailand's Raming is known for its large leaf, and Vietnamese black tea is light and easy-going.
Turkey's Rize is barely exported at all and is drunk daily at home as çay. Georgian tea and Indonesia's Java each carry the character of their own ground.
