Japanese and Taiwanese Black Tea

Wakoucha is black tea grown and made in Japan. It is produced in Shizuoka, Kagoshima and elsewhere, and tends to be gentle in astringency with a soft sweetness.

Taiwan makes black tea too. Sun Moon Lake black tea, known as Taiwan Tea No. 18, has a distinctive aroma suggesting cinnamon and mint. Honey black tea gets its natural honeyed scent from leaves that have been fed on by the tea jassid.

All of them are mild enough to enjoy straight, where the aroma comes through.
