Teas of India: Darjeeling, Assam and Nilgiri
India is one of the world's major tea producers, and its best-known teas are named after the districts they come from.
Darjeeling sits high in the north, Assam spreads across the plains to its east, and Nilgiri lies in the southern highlands. Altitude and climate differ, and so does everything in the cup.
There are also lesser-known neighbours, such as Sikkim and the Dooars, grown right alongside Darjeeling and Assam.
