Benifuki
A Japanese cultivar bred for black tea, widely used for wakoucha.
Benifuki is a Japanese tea cultivar bred for black tea. It is widely used for wakoucha and gives a tea with clear, definite character.
It is known for its methylated catechin content when made as green tea, but oxidation during black tea manufacture removes almost all of it. Do not expect the same effect from Benifuki made as wakoucha.
