Camellia sinensis var. sinensis

The small-leaved variety — hardy in cold, and often aromatic.

Camellia sinensis var. sinensis is the small-leaved variety. It tolerates cold and grows at higher elevations and in cooler climates.

Growth is slower but aroma comes through readily. Darjeeling, Keemun and most Japanese tea plants belong to this line.
