Quality Season refers to the time of year when the highest quality tea leaves are harvested in a specific region. This term is primarily used in relation to Ceylon (Sri Lanka).
Sri Lanka has diverse climates across the island, leading to different Quality Seasons for each region; for example, Uva has its peak from July to September, while Dimbula and Nuwara Eliya peak from January to March. During the dry monsoon season, tea leaves with pronounced aromas are produced.
The refreshing aroma reminiscent of menthol that appears in Uva during its peak season is known as 'Uva Flavor' and is one of the reasons why it is considered one of the world's top three black teas.
