Scenting / Flavoring
Adding floral or fruit aroma to finished leaf — how flavoured teas are made.
Scenting transfers aroma to finished tea. Earl Grey, scented with bergamot, is the classic example. It can be done with flavourings, or by resting the leaf with fresh flowers, dried petals or peel.
Since the aroma is the point, milder base leaves are often chosen. Two flavoured teas sharing a name can differ a lot in the strength and quality of their scent.
