Orthodox
A traditional method that preserves the shape of the tea leaves, enhancing delicate aromas and is the mainstream for loose leaf tea.
The orthodox method involves traditional processes of withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying. By maintaining the shape of the tea leaves, extraction occurs slowly, allowing for the development of delicate and complex aromas.
Most renowned teas, such as Darjeeling and Uva, which are known for their fragrant profiles, are produced using the orthodox method. In contrast, the CTC method produces a stronger brew in a shorter time with granulated leaves.
