Handling Tea Leaves
Store in an Airtight Container
Tea leaves are highly absorbent and have strong deodorizing capabilities, so always choose a container with a high level of airtightness. It is advisable to avoid transparent containers if possible. Since the aroma can dissipate, try to minimize the duration and frequency of opening the container. If using a bag, a resealable kitchen clip is convenient.
Keep in a Cool, Dark, and Dry Place
The refrigerator can actually be a good storage location. However, be cautious of odors from other foods.
Buy Only What You Need
Even with proper storage, tea leaves will deteriorate over time. To maintain freshness, aim to purchase only the amount you need. While many packages have a use-by date, it is best to consume them within about three months.
